DALAT HOUSE
Nestled amidst the rolling coffee hills of Nam Ban, Dalat House is envisioned as a serene retreat - a place of return and reconnection for a multi-generational family. It serves as a weekend haven where the warmth of kinship is nurtured through shared moments and quiet togetherness.
The approach begins at the foot of the hill, where a narrow path winds through a lush orchard canopy. Each step invites discovery, leading to a sudden reveal - the vast coffee valley unfolding as one reaches the crest, the highest point of the land where the house gently settles into its natural topography.
At the summit, a green roof planted with wildflowers blends into the landscape, concealing the house beneath a soft layer of vegetation.
A meandering path cuts through the garden, guiding visitors downward, evoking both curiosity and anticipation. Spaces unfold along the slope, following the contours of the hill. The communal area extends outward, opening fully to the panoramic view, as if embracing the surrounding mountains beneath a floating concrete roof. The bedrooms are partially embedded into the hillside, minimizing the building’s visual impact while framing ever-changing views of nature - shifting light, drifting mist, and the rhythm of the seasons.
Dalat House embraces the land to craft an architectural journey - one that begins with curiosity and culminates in peace. It is a place where architecture and nature merge seamlessly, creating a dwelling that invites reflection, connection, and quiet joy in the heart of the highlands.
